How do we do this?
METHODOLOGY
As part of the MTA Community, Travelling U takes inspiration from the Tiimiakatemia learning model, combined with Mondragon Cooperative’s collaborative values. All of our programs have four elements in common:
STUDENT DRIVEN LEARNING PROCESS
We work with a student-driven model where there is a learning frame consisting of objectives and different learning tools and settings to get there. How they get to those objectives is largely up to the team entrepreneur and their team. The team entrepreneur has the freedom and responsibility to organise themselves, combining obligatory activities with those of one’s own choice. This foments autonomy, critical thinking and time and team-management skills as well as self-leadership and more.
REAL WORLD INTERACTION AND EXPERIENCE
The key to learning how entrepreneurial passion projects could work in the real world is actually validating them and getting inspired by experts in the field. As well as conducting inspirational visits to companies working in the fields, the team entrepreneurs also.
PROJECT BASED LEARNING
A world-renowned learning tool implemented for students to develop long-lasting skills. Projects or challenges are set for students to solve in practical, creative ways. In order to get to the resolution, students may also need to use their initiative to learn skill or take on information autonomously in order to complete the task.
COLLABORATIVE TEAM LEARNING
Travelling U’s learning methodology is closely based on Nonaka and Takeuchi’s theory about how a company can create knowledge through experience supported by theoretical information. Through trial and error and guidance from the Team Coaches, the teams try, individual reflect, share those reflections creating new ones, and create a follow-up plan to execute based on the learnings of the previous experience.
